What does success look like in this role?

You ship usable, elegant experiences that customers adopt and understand without hand-holding.

  • You turn ambiguous problems into testable prototypes and production UI, measuring outcomes and iterating quickly.
  • You strengthen the Design System with well-architected components that speed up delivery across squads.
  • You collaborate tightly with engineering and product, communicate trade-offs clearly, and raise the bar for craft and pace.

What is the impact and scope of this position?

Direct impact on Simetrik’s next product verticals beyond our core reconciliations platform.

  • Ownership from discovery to delivery for complex, multi-state, data-heavy interfaces.
  • Responsibility for patterns that enable AI agents to guide, explain, and act alongside users.

What outcomes are expected in the first 3 to 6 months?

  • Map key user journeys for one AI-driven workflow and deliver production-ready UI for at least two core screens with complete states.
  • Contribute two or more reusable components to the Design System, including documentation and props architecture.
  • Produce and test interactive prototypes that validate critical assumptions with internal or proxy users.
  • Establish collaboration rituals with engineering to ensure feasibility, performance, and accessibility.

In this role you will

What are the key responsibilities of this role?

  • Drive the end-to-end design process from problem framing and flows to high-fidelity UI and handoff in Figma.
  • Design full state coverage for every surface including loading, empty, error, and recovery paths.
  • Build and maintain scalable components and patterns in the Design System, in partnership with engineering.
  • Prototype rapidly to assess viability when market signals or data are limited.
  • Define interaction models for AI experiences including context, instruction, output review, and human-in-the-loop moments.
  • Present decisions with clear rationale, seek critique, and iterate with speed.
  • Contribute to a high-ownership, startup-style culture focused on outcomes, candor, and learning.
  • Translate strategy into clear user journeys, information architecture, and screen flows.
  • Deliver production-ready UI with componentized, token-driven design that engineers can implement quickly.
  • Write lightweight specs and usage guidelines that make reuse of patterns obvious.
  • Partner with PM and engineering to define success metrics and run experiments.
  • Keep the Design System coherent while evolving it to meet new product needs.
  • Ensure accessibility and performance are considered in design decisions.

Must Have

  • Proven experience shipping complex product UX/UI beyond marketing sites or simple landings.
  • Strong Figma skills including component sets, variants, properties, and library management.
  • Demonstrated work building or extending a Design System and using it to accelerate delivery.
  • Ability to design multi-state, data-rich interfaces with clear empty, loading, and error patterns.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, proposing paths forward, and iterating fast with engineers.
  • Systems thinking applied to component architecture and pattern reuse.
  • Interaction design for agent-assisted workflows and decision trees.
  • Visual craft with attention to hierarchy, spacing, and readability under real-world data.
  • Communication that is direct, constructive, and oriented to decisions and trade-offs.
  • Bias to action, curiosity, and consistent follow-through.

Nice to Have

  • Prior work in high-uncertainty contexts or fast-growing environments.
  • Experience designing interfaces that incorporate AI agents or LLM-powered features.
  • Familiarity with frontend implementation constraints and collaboration practices.
  • Exposure to B2B fintech, data tooling, or other complex operational products.
  • Comfort running lightweight usability tests and synthesizing insights quickly.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in product design or a closely related discipline with shipped product work.
  • Evidence of 0-to-1 product experience and Design System contribution.
  • Fluency in Figma and modern component methodologies.
  • English and Spanish communication.

Benefits

  • Well-funded and proven startup with large ambitions and competitive salaries.
  • Entrepreneurial culture where pushing limits, creating and collaborating is everyday business.
  • Open communication with management and company leadership.
  • Small, dynamic teams = massive impact.
  • 500USD a year for you to invest in learning.
