About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our Accounting product team at Simetrik. This is a critical hire to boost capacity and strengthen our ability to deliver high-quality, scalable financial solutions. This role requires a strong technical foundation, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to build software that can handle millions of financial records with accuracy and speed.

Minimum qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with proven senior-level contributions.
• Strong proficiency in Python and FastAPI.
• Experience writing comprehensive unit and integration tests.
• Experience with data lakes (Snowflake, ClickHouse, or similar).
• Strong communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Mindset for scalability and ability to design systems for large data volumes.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and technologies such as Pulsar.
• Familiarity with AWS Batch.
• Understanding of security best practices in software development.
• Basic knowledge of accounting or financial systems.
• Startup experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Python with FastAPI.
• Ensure test coverage through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing (Pytest).
• Work with data lakes such as Snowflake or ClickHouse to handle large-scale data.
• Contribute to system design with a focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, and Frontend engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Actively participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical problem-solving.
