About the role

We are looking for exceptional Data Scientists to join Simetrik’s newly formed Value Agents team. This team will leverage one of the largest transactional datasets in Latin America to design, build, and deploy predictive algorithms that generate direct business value for our global clients.

This is an opportunity for technically brilliant, highly curious, and driven individuals to move from academic or research environments into real-world impact, building algorithms that transform financial data into tangible client outcomes.

What does success look like in this role?

  • Bring strong algorithmic and machine learning expertise and quickly adapt it to Simetrik’s unique data environment

  • Deliver early predictive models that demonstrate accuracy, scalability, and business relevance within the first few months

  • Collaborate with teammates and stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into robust technical solutions

  • Balance technical rigor with explainability and auditability of models, ensuring they can be trusted in financial environments

What is the impact and scope of this position?

  • Directly shape how Simetrik’s clients extract value from their data

  • Build algorithms that improve transaction accuracy, predict outcomes, and create new layers of intelligence for global financial ecosystems
  • Leverage the power of Generative AI to develop new ways of transforming massive datasets into client-ready insights, accelerating discovery, automating workflows, and creating novel methods to deliver measurable business value

  • Work with a dataset that spans multiple geographies, industries, and clients, ensuring your contributions have international impact

In this role you will

  • Explore and analyze massive transactional datasets to identify opportunities for predictive modeling

  • Build, train, and validate machine learning algorithms with a strong focus on precision, reliability, and explainability
  • Apply Generative AI techniques to accelerate development, automate model building, and enhance the interpretability and usability of predictive solutions

  • Work closely with business stakeholders and clients to align technical solutions with business value

  • Ensure models are auditable and transparent for compliance and client trust

  • Collaborate with other data scientists, engineers, and product leaders in shaping the direction of the Value Agents team

Key responsibilities of the role

  • Design, implement, and iterate predictive algorithms using advanced ML techniques

  • Leverage frameworks such as Gradient Boosting Machines (GBM) and SHAP for model interpretability

  • Conduct rigorous testing to ensure accuracy and scalability of solutions
  • Integrate Generative AI approaches into data analysis, prototyping, and solution delivery

  • Document methodologies and ensure reproducibility of models for auditability

  • Translate business problems into technical approaches and clearly communicate trade-offs and outcomes

Must Have

  • Strong foundation in machine learning, statistics, and algorithmic modeling

  • Hands-on experience with predictive modeling, ideally including gradient boosting methods such as XGBoost or LightGBM
  • Exposure to Generative AI concepts, tools, or frameworks

  • High intellectual curiosity and a research-driven mindset

  • Ability to work independently, learn fast, and deliver results in a fast-changing environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with financial datasets or projects involving large-scale structured data

  • Exposure to data engineering pipelines and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with model interpretability tools or frameworks such as SHAP or LIME

  • Client-facing experience with the ability to engage in discovery sessions and explain complex concepts simply

  • Contributions to academic research or open-source ML projects

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field

  • Open to global locations, with no fixed geographic preference

  • Strong communication skills in Spanish and English
