What does success look like in this role?
We are looking for a senior technical leader to help scale Simetrik’s internal AI Innovation team—an elite, autonomous unit focused on building powerful, agentic AI use cases across the client portfolio’s CFO stack.
You’ll lead and mentor a squad of sharp junior prompt engineers while owning the technical architecture and roadmap for vertical AI agents. Your role bridges hands-on engineering with team and product leadership. You'll work directly with the team lead (Director of AI Innovation) and Simetrik founders to help offload managerial responsibilities and elevate the team’s execution to the next level.

What is the impact and scope of this position?
- You establish technical and process structure within the team without compromising speed or creativity.
- You mentor junior engineers, raising their quality bar and confidence while freeing up leadership bandwidth.
- You build AI agents that deliver measurable value to internal teams and clients in finance, reconciliation, and risk.
- You evolve Simetrik’s prompt and agent libraries into modular, reusable components.
- You become a trusted partner to product managers, engineers, and domain experts.

What are the key responsibilities of this role?
- Design, build, and ship AI agents for complex, finance-driven workflows.
- Lead technical discovery and architecture for vertical agents in a generative AI setting.
- Guide junior prompt engineers and shape their career development.
- Drive quality standards and rapid iteration cycles for agent performance and UX.
- Contribute to internal tooling, agent evaluation frameworks, and prompt optimization libraries.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of AI Innovation on roadmap planning and team structure.
- Champion experimentation and foster a culture of excellence and ownership.
Must Have
What does this person need in terms of competencies or skills to be successful?
- Proven experience building real-world AI/LLM-powered products or agents.
- Solid engineering foundation (e.g., backend development, ML infrastructure, or similar).
- Strong command of prompt engineering, LLM workflows, and agentic architectures.
- Experience mentoring or managing technical talent in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and thriving in autonomous teams.
- Deep interest in building domain-specific AI systems for real business problems.
Nice to Have
- Experience in finance, accounting, or enterprise SaaS environments.
- Familiarity with AI agent frameworks, orchestration layers, or low-code AI pipelines.
- Exposure to experimentation platforms, structured evaluations, or RLHF workflows.
- Startup or innovation lab experience.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI/ML, or equivalent practical experience.
