🛠 What You'll Do - as a Backend Engineer at Sigma, you'll:

• Design and build scalable, resilient backend systems and services (primarily in Go)
• Work closely with product and engineering on greenfield development (e.g., public APIs, internal data pipelines)
• Maintain and evolve production infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Postgres)
• Review code, share knowledge, and mentor teammates
• Weigh in on architecture and participate in our RFC process
• Contribute to a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and transparency

⚙️ Our Tech Stack

• Languages: Golang, Python
• Databases: Postgres, Neo4j, Elastic
• Architecture: Microservices on AWS (ECS, managed services)
• Infrastructure: Docker, Terraform, Grafana
• Data Platform: Databricks (for ML/DS work)

✅ What We’re Looking For - we don’t expect you to check every box, but here’s what success looks like:

Must-Haves:

• Proficiency in Golang OR strong experience in similar strongly typed languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin) with a willingness to learn Go quickly
• Proficiency in SQL, understandging query plans and optimizing queries.
• Solid communication skills in English
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend development, including:
  • Designing and shipping production-grade systems
  • Monitoring, debugging, and maintaining services in production
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Working with containers (Docker) and managed cloud environments (preferably AWS)

You might also bring:

• Experience with Python and Graph DBs
• Familiarity with search technologies like Elasticsearch
• Working knowledge of build tools, alerting systems (e.g., Grafana), and nginx
• Experience collaborating with product, data, or sales teams to build user-focused systems

Bonus Points For:

• Building public-facing RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of ECS, Terraform, or similar devops tooling
