The role

We’re seeking a driven and hands-on Software Engineer Lead to help build and lead a small team within our Loyalty domain.

You will be responsible for designing and delivering backend systems powering external loyalty integrations, while mentoring engineers and establishing strong engineering practices as the team scales.

This role requires strong backend fundamentals, prior experience leading engineers, and the ability to balance technical execution with ownership. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping Qlub’s platform expansion, enabling seamless integrations between Qlub and our restaurant ecosystem.

What you’ll be driving:

• Lead a small team of engineers, supporting delivery, mentoring, and technical decision-making

• Design and implement scalable backend services using Golang

• Own development of External Loyalty Integration capabilities within the platform

• Collaborate closely with Product, EMs, and other internal platform teams to define technical solutions

• Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code

• Establish engineering best practices, code standards, and review processes

• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to long-term platform direction

• Support hiring and onboarding as the team grows

• Balance hands-on coding (~70–80%) with leadership responsibilities (~20–30%)

• Troubleshoot performance issues and production incidents when needed
  

Qualifications

• 4–6 years building and shipping production backend systems (not just maintaining existing services)

• Strong hands-on Golang experience designing APIs and services that handle real user traffic

• Previously led or mentored engineers and owned delivery for a feature or service area

• Designed systems that needed to scale, stay reliable, or integrate with multiple services

• Comfortable owning a problem end-to-end: requirements → design → implementation → rollout → monitoring

• Experience debugging production issues and improving performance, reliability, or latency

• Experience working in cloud environments and deploying services independently

• Writes clean, testable code and gives actionable code reviews

• Able to collaborate closely with product managers and challenge unclear requirements

• Communicates clearly in English with distributed teams
