We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer, Intern who is passionate about machine learning and eager to learn how real-world ML systems are built and deployed. As an intern, you will work closely with experienced Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and MLOps Engineers to support the development, experimentation, and improvement of machine learning models and pipelines.

This internship will give you hands-on exposure to applying machine learning techniques to real business problems, while learning best practices in software engineering, experimentation, and production ML systems. This internship will be 6 months long, starting June 2026 - December 2026. Kindly note that this internship is only open to Malaysians or international students already studying in Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in framing and understanding machine learning problems into technical solutions
• Support the research, development, and evaluation of machine learning models that solve real product problems
• Help analyze and prepare datasets for model training, testing, and validation
• Assist in running and monitoring model experiments and performance metrics
• Perform basic statistical analysis to help evaluate model results and business impact
• Build and automate machine learning pipelines for training, testing, and deployment
• Contribute to production ML systems by monitoring, optimizing, and maintaining deployed models
• Collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and MLOps Engineers to learn system design and best practices
• Help improve internal tools, libraries, or documentation related to machine learning development
• Follow and learn test-driven development and engineering best practices for machine learning systems

About You

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, or related quantitative disciplines
• Basic to intermediate programming skills, preferably in Python (SQL is a plus)
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts, predictive analytics, or statistical modelling
• Exposure to machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, or LightGBM is a plus
• Interest in learning how machine learning models are developed and deployed in production
• Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git) and basic software engineering concepts
• Any exposure to MLOps tools (e.g. MLflow, DVC) or cloud technologies (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes) is a bonus but not required
• Curious, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
