About The Role

At minka_ we are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer, who will work along with a senior team of engineers (Head of Infrastructure, Sr. Data Architect, Software Engineer, Sr. Software Engineer and Engineering Manager) located between Latam, US and Europe. This person will be in charge of ensuring that our infrastructure will be reliable, cost efficient, performance based and scalable.

Requirements:

• Database Administration:
• Manage, maintain, and monitor database systems to ensure optimal performance and availability.
• Perform routine database backups, recovery operations, and disaster recovery planning.
• Implement and manage database security, including user access controls and data encryption.
• Apply patches and updates to database software to maintain security and performance.
• Performance Tuning:
• Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve performance issues.
• Conduct regular performance tuning of SQL queries, indexing, and database configurations.
• Analyze database workloads and optimize resource utilization to ensure efficient operation.
• Develop and maintain performance monitoring tools and scripts.
• Data Engineering Integration:
• Design and build efficient data processing systems to handle large data volumes.
• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for seamless data integration and transformation.
• Collaborate with data engineers to optimize data workflows and processing speeds.
• Implement big data solutions and integrate them with existing database systems.
• Collaboration and Support:
• Work closely with development teams to ensure database systems are well-integrated with applications.
• Collaborate with data analysts to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
• Provide support for database-related issues and ensure timely resolution of problems.
• Document database configurations, procedures, and performance tuning techniques.
  

Required Skills

• 5+ years of DBA experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
• 3+ years of cloud-based DBA experience
• Strong experience with relational database systems
• Strong experience with database security best practices
• Experience with large volume OLTP database systems
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience in financial services or fintech
• Experience building stream-processing systems (using messaging systems, such as Kafka or RabbitMQ).
• Experience working with large and/or complex datasets
• Experience with commercial cloud-based solutions (eg. GCP, AWS, Azure, Oracle)
• Experience using cloud pipeline architectures (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
• Ability to learn new systems and work with global technology team
• Experience with programming languages (Javascript, Java, Python, etc.)
