About the Role
As a Senior Backend Developer, you will be at the forefront of this transformation. You'll get hands-on experience designing and implementing core functionalities, working closely with the front-end developers, architects, and infrastructure engineers. Your expertise will contribute to the scalability, efficiency, and robustness of our platform. You will also have opportunities to engage with our clients, gaining insights into how our system performs, and collaborating to ensure that the backend technologies align seamlessly with user expectations and front-end requirements. Your thoughts on best practices, architecture, and system expansion will be invaluable in driving our platform to new heights.
What you'll do:
- Be a technical resource to colleagues;
- Design and implement the back-end architecture of our web application;
- Implement and execute on security, data protection, and database management activities
- Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to design and launch new features;
- Write modules to interface with third-party services and manage server-side logic;
- Write unit tests for code that you create and review code from your peers to ensure best code quality;
- Provide feedback to the broader team on how we can continue to approve our approach
Qualifications
- Multiple years of professional experience as a full-stack or back-end software developer;
- Multiple years of professional experience with server-side languages;
- Multiple years of professional experience working with databases;
- Experience working with large cloud platforms;
- Knowledge of and practical experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines;
- Experience with writing automated tests and API development;
- Ability to work well in cross-functional teams under deadlines;
- An ambition to learn and to achieve, and a positive attitude;
- Provide mentorship for Junior and Intermediate Engineers in your section to help them grow in their technical skills and remove blockers
Bonus Experience
- Experience working with MERN Tech Stack (MongoDB, Express, ReactJS, Node.js);
- Experience with Relational Databases (MySql, PgSql);
- Experience with AWS cloud deployments;
- Experience with architecture and infrastructure management;
- Experience with performance and optimization problems and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems;
- Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural and propose thorough iterative solutions

- Remote first work: We’re a Canadian based, remote-first environment, with in-office collaboration zones and individual workspaces in Gatineau, QC or Halifax, NS and hubs of virtual employees in Southwestern Ontario).
