The Opportunity
As a Senior Data Analyst at Orijin, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company's growth and success by leveraging data to inform decision-making, enhance customer experiences, and optimize internal processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to extract insights from various data sources, build and maintain data pipelines, develop impactful visualizations, and ensure data governance and compliance. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and effective communication to drive actionable insights and facilitate data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

    Data Architecture Leadership:
  • Structure data across the organization to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate and manage data systems across cross-functional teams.
  • Guide and implement data governance and compliance measures.
  • Data Insights and Strategy:
  • Formulate hypotheses and employability measures to drive insights and value creation.
  • Collaborate with the product team to incorporate data-driven features and enhancements.
  • Investigate patterns of learner behavior to unlock better ways to motivate, nudge and recommend content to learners to improve engagement and reduce attrition
  • Explore how to leverage machine learning techniques to enhance predictive modeling
  • Data Pipeline Management and Collaboration:
  • Build and maintain data pipelines with education partners, ensuring efficient data flow and integrity
  • Own the development and maintenance of data pipelines with education partners, including new data
  • Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data pipeline process.
  • Utilize tools such as Redshift, AWS Glue, and Apache Spark for ETL processes.
  • Data Analysis and Visualization:
  • Develop and maintain data dashboards using BI tools like Sisense, focusing on self-service capabilities for customers and internal teams.
  • Identify key stories and metrics for visualization to drive engagement and decision-making across multiple audiences
  • Efficiency Optimization:
  • Guide data architecture towards modern and efficient approaches.
  • Manage query efficiency and adjust data structures and toolsets as needed to meet evolving requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors/Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in education technology, assessment, or education sectors preferred.
  • Proven experience architecting and managing data systems in complex organizational environments, and translating business requirements into data solutions.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, particularly AWS Glue for ETL and Redshift for data warehousing.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like Sisense for dashboard development and visualization.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience in data governance, risk management, and data security.

Location

  • New York City or remote (must be willing to work Eastern Standard Time. Orijin has a NYC office as an in-person option)
  • Travel: 2-4 times per year. Additional travel may be required for applicants outside of NYC.
